The longest I have ever lived in one place, after leaving my parents house at the age of 21, was about seven years (itch, itch, itch). And even then, I wasn't living in exactly the same place. I lived in my VW van at Docktown Marina (no longer existing), a small harbor off SF Bay in the town of Redwood City. Within a year, my boss and his wife had invited me to live in their house (I was working for a very small engineering firm), a house that had once been, additionally, occupied by their several children.
Strangely (?) the longest I've been with one particular job was about seven years also, as was the longest lasting exclusive relationship. How many times can we say seven?
I haven't found myself able to think of any particular place I would like to live. So, I've decided to live in no particular place for a while.
